How Could We Have Turned Away?

I am speechless. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. I just watched Hotel Rwanda. Overwhelmed with shock, I am flabbergasted. What occured in Rwanda was probably the worst slaughter in modern history. Modern meaning it occured within the last 30 years.

Almost a million people were slaughtered; men, women and children. All because of a label.

And the world turned it's back on them.

They had nothing to offer; no oil or land, no commodities. So we let them rot.

Dear Sweet Jesus, have mercy on us and forgive us.

"When I Know Who I'm Not, Then I'll Know Who I Am"

Such truth to the statement I used as a title for this particular post. It's actually a lyric written by Miss Alanis Morissette. Her song "Precious Illusions" keeps playing in my brain. I love the words and have made them my own. I definitely know who I'm not and because of that I know who I am. I've come to a place in my life where I am accepting myself. I have become weary of fighting off parts of me. I've embraced all of who I am and it feels wonderful.

I feel whole.

"LORD Jesus, for bringing me to this place beside still waters. You satisfy my heart with good things and fill my cup to overflowing. There isn't anything I can do or say but bow deeply and say 'thank You, thank You'. Amen"
